Simply Delicious Garlic Butter Baguette Crisps

Simple Garlic Butter Baguette Crisps

Every pasta dish deserves a side of bread.  This is the cold hard truth for me.  It just doesn’t “taste” right if I don’t have it.   I’ll admit that sometimes it gets nixed because I wasn’t able to find some in the freezer section.  Then I took a stroll in the bakery department at my grocery store and gently tossed a baguette in my basket.  I say gently because I was in a rush and didn’t want to harm this lovely thing!  I didn’t know how I would do this, but I decided then and there to make my own side of garlic bread to keep the pasta on my plate company.  This is my Garlic Butter Baguette Crisps Recipe!

This recipe does not require too many ingredients nor does it take long to make either.  They only need approximately eight (8) minutes in the oven.  Take them out as soon as you see they start to get a light golden color on the bottom.  They will have a crispiness to the bite without a struggle.  They hold up nicely with soups, stews or pasta meals.  I even use these in place of croutons in with my salads occasionally…so that makes them healthy, right?!

These crisps are a huge hit in my house.  Never any leftovers!  I have been making these Garlic Butter Baguettes Crisps for some time now and I think I actually prefer them to the garlic breads you find in the freezer section.

Reasons why:  1.  They’re not soaked in butter, which can sometimes leave a greasy film in your mouth.  2. You don’t have to break a nail trying to separate the two halves of bread that have somehow managed to fuse back into one.  3. I control the amount of salt AND butter I put on these.  4.  They just taste better!

Those are great reasons to make them…plus, they pair up nicely with soups and salads.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil. Set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, smash softened butter with roasted garlic cloves. If you do not have roasted garlic, use 1 tbsp minced garlic in it's place. Set aside.
  3. Cut baguette into slices that are approximately 1/2 - 1 inch thick. Place on baking sheet and spread them out in one layer.
  4. Using a pastry brush, spread some of the olive oil on each piece of baguette. Be careful not to drench them too much 🙂
  5. Using a butter knife or the back of a spoon, smear a little bit of the garlic butter on each of the slices.
  6. Sprinkle a little bit of the sea salt on each slice. Do the same with the pepper.
  7. Bake for 8 minutes. Remove when bottoms are a LIGHT golden brown. Enjoy
Recipe Notes

Make them extra special and sprinkle a little bit of Parmesan Cheese on each slice 🙂
